The Community Currents Fundraiser
Between March and June 2026, I launched an online fundraising campaign through the Milaap platform with the goal of raising INR 51,177 to support Vanashakti's ongoing environmental conservation initiatives. The collected funds were tansferred to the NGO; so as to contribute towards the organisation's legal advocacy, public interest litigations, and community-led efforts to protect ecologically sensitive landscapes from environmentally harmful industrial and infrastructure encroachments.
As part of the fundraiser, we developed the campaign narrative, communicated the importance of environmental justice and biodiversity conservation to potential donors, and undertook outreach through my personal and community networks to encourage contributions.
In July 2026, I facilitated an expert-led workshop with NAME, an environmental activist/conservation specialist. The workshop aimed to address Vanashakti volunteers on impact, strategy, and other useful domains of ecological conservation. Additionally, it provided them with tangible tips they can use to reduce their ecological footprint.
Furthermore, to expand the project's reach among young people, I organized a field visit to Vanashakti in August 2026 for student volunteers from my school.
The visit included a guided nature walk through ecologically sensitive areas in the Tansa Valley that are increasingly threatened by unregulated development. By interacting directly with conservationists and observing these landscapes firsthand, students gained a better understanding of local biodiversity, the environmental challenges facing the region, and the importance of community-led conservation.
Through this, we aimed to encourage greater youth engagement with environmental issues and inspire students to participate more actively in conservation efforts.
